SlowMemo #001
In 2025, I hoped to share more but haven't quite succeeded. It's just April, and a quarter of 2025 has already passed.
I did many things in February and March. Let me casually record them, writing whatever comes to mind.
Finding Joy Without Concerts
Life seems to lack anticipation without concerts. After MyTreeOfLive's final show in Guangzhou, my entertainment schedule has become much lighter.
- Watched the movie "Still Tomorrow," which uses comedy to soften the impact of violence on victims, being considerate to viewers. After learning about the historical background, I felt the strength of women from that era.
- Rewatched the old drama "The Greed of Man" - old dramas and their OSTs were really good.
- Watched several short dramas. Those wish-fulfillment shows with main characters reborn or transported to another world, where villains don't have enough time to succeed, are indeed
- quite addictive.
- Went to a coffee festival, tried several strange specialty drinks.
- Visited a beer festival, discovered a delicious "Li Bai" drink from Yunnan.
- Experienced spring, with cotton trees, bauhinia, and golden trumpet trees.
Those Who Have Left Us
People who we thought would never age or leave us during our growth journey suddenly depart, leaving only memories behind.
Following their departure comes a flood of exploration into their life stories. Doing all this research after they're gone - I'm not sure what to make of it.
Those mornings afterward, I started playing songs on repeat - both familiar and new ones.
Simplifying Note-Taking Systems
I've tried "decluttering" many times, always ending in failure. This time I'm trying to streamline my note-taking system.
Previously, my notes and records were scattered across various apps - Notes, Flomo, Notion, Obsidian, Feishu, and more. It suited my scattered personality but really affected my productivity.
After seeing someone share their P.A.R.A-based note system implementation, I started experimenting with my own theoretical system.
Currently, all inputs are unified in Apple Notes, using the I.P.A.A method adapted to my needs. After practicing for a month in March, I've simplified quite a bit and am still evaluating. For daily recording needs and unified search access, it's already a huge improvement compared to the previous scattered state.
About Time Management
When intensely focused on projects, I wish days had 48 hours. Recently, my longest work session was probably 9AM to 2AM - starting work at 9 in the morning and continuing until 2 the next morning. Later, when physical symptoms finally appeared from staying up late, my body finally let go of work, but my mind kept racing.
It's a very unsustainable state. But I always feel there's too little time and too much to do.
Then when I can't hold on anymore, both body and emotions hit rock bottom. Can only lie down and idle away a day. Indeed, borrowing time always requires double payback.
After recovery, I hope to add more time for reading and slowing down to rest.
Pet Updates 🐈🐈
My fur babies are just over 9 and 8.5 years old now.
When the older one coughed for the first time, I thought it was frequent dry heaving and worried it was related to the heart problem discovered six months ago. Quickly made a follow-up appointment. Before getting the results, I had already imagined and tried to accept many worst-case scenarios. Fortunately, the cough was just an infection with no other inflammation or respiratory diseases found, and the heart check-up showed no further progression - just continued observation needed. This was the best possible outcome.
Then noticed the little sister occasionally walking with a limp in her front legs, appearing sometimes and normal other times. Concerning. Annual check-up is coming soon, hoping everything goes well.
The fur babies are both sweet and lovely. Hope we can continue accompanying each other for a long time.
Some Other Thoughts
About whether it's worth investing energy in something uncertain. An undisputed fact: little steps add up to great distances.
This person does A, that person does B, another does C - everyone has their own beautiful future.
SlowMemo
Slow down, then chat casually about whatever comes to mind.
Wishing you good health
